Favourite Things Blog Hop

I am participating in a huge blog hop which theme is “Favourite Things”.Promotional slide for social media

When I first heard of this blog hop, the first thing that popped into my head, was the melody of The Sound of Music’s “My Favourite Things”:

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
brown paper packages tied up with strings,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels,
door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings.
these are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes,
snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,
silver white winters that melt into springs,
these are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
when I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don’t feel so bad.

I love the movie and I really love this song! PLUS, it is a movie fitting for the holidays 😀

Anyway, here are some of my favourite things:

 My favourite Holiday Tradition

The holiday season is a time for celebration, a time in which family and friends gather and celebrate the relationships that make them unique.

For me, the holidays are a symbol of quality time spent with my children. It’s a time of traditions that are passed from parents to children. It’s the time to cherish memories of holidays past, and to take the time to make new memories.

My absolutely favourite thing to do during the holidays, is to spend time with my daughters baking cookies. Every year we bake hundreds of cookies that we share with their teachers, and our family and friends. We literally spend days preparing, baking and decorating these cookies.

An extra table is brought to the kitchen, everything is carefully washed and disinfected, aprons and chef’s hats are donned, and we are ready for fun…

Here are some photos of one of our “Cookie Interventions” 🙂

My Favourite Store

I love spending time creating things for myself and for others.  From sewing to cake decorating, if you have been following my blog for a while, you know that I love to create 🙂

Here are some of my favourite creations:

Of course, all this creating means spending some time at my favourite store: Michaels!!!

I could spend days there, just looking at all the neat things they have. Every time I enter this store, my brain enters into creative mode and I spend every single minute thinking of ways I could use the supplies that catch my eye. If you haven’t been to one of the many Michaels stores, make sure you go to one fast 🙂

My Favourite Teaching Related Thing

The smell of books!

When I was a child, we used to have to buy every single text book we needed for school. I would always spend the last days of the Summer break, going through each book, gazing at the pictures, and inhaling the fresh smell of new books.

After becoming a teacher, I always relish entering a classroom and encountering that unmistakable smell of books (old and new). It brings back happy memories of my childhood, and makes me wish that my students can enjoy learning just as much as I did 🙂

Days? It looks like it would take you weeks to bake and decorate all of those yummy treats. You must have some amazing helpers.

Hi Kim! LOL, it was indeed days! We were exhausted by the end of it all, but we managed to do it all in just a few days 🙂
My helpers are really wonderful, especially when they get to sample a few before we get to packaging, 😉
