Once in a while my friends send me links to teaching products that have been created by other teacher-authors and that use my digital papers.

I always like to take a look at what others came up with using my stuff, and usually I end up pinning their products as a “thank you” for using my artwork.

However, recently I have noticed a few products which use the digital papers as backgrounds for their covers, but the background is not aligned properly.

Here’s a mock-up of what I’m referring to:

My guess is that the authors probably don’t really know how to insert the image files properly into PowerPoint in order to obtain a continuous image. And that is why today I decided to write a tutorial on how to properly insert a background into your PowerPoint documents.

1- Start by opening your document and place your cover elements as you usually do. I made a quick mock up so you can get an idea of what I mean 🙂

2- Go to “Format” and click “Background”.

3- A small window will open. Click on the arrow for the drop-down menu. Select “Fill Effects”, when the new window opens select “Picture” and then click on “Select Picture”.

4- Choose your digital paper image and click “Insert”. Click “OK” and then “Apply”.

5- Your new background is inserted!!! And look, no seams 😀

NOTE: With certain designs, the background can appear distorted after insertion. In the case above, it is barely noticeable because the stripes look good in any direction. If the digital paper you chose doesn’t look good (as in disproportional), before you click “OK” in the “Fill Effects” window, make sure you check the box “Lock picture aspect ratio”. This will ensure that the design of the digital paper is applied without distortion.

And there you have it! Not hard at all to do 🙂

I hope this tutorial can be of help to you.

Take care.
